12 Companies interested in supplying tablets to Thailand

Some twelve bidders have expressed interest in participating in the Thai government's second phase of the One Tablet Per Child project. The government will release final terms of reference by mid-May for the electronic tender for 1.63 million tablets, The Bangkok Post writes. The auction will invite bids for eight contracts in all four regions of Thailand. Bidders can win more than one tender. Local bidders include Songkhla Finishing, Supreme Computer, SVOA, Samart, and Forth. There are also several Chinese companies interested: Huawei, Haier, ZTE, and Shenzhen Scope Scientific Development,

Many potential manufacturers are absent. It will be better for Thai Government to make the bidding more competitive by making a fresh bidding.
