29 major firms agree child protection best practice - EC

The European Commission presented the results of a self-regulatory exercise, involving 29 leading companies, to establish a new benchmark for child protection online on Safer Internet Day. Called "Connect with Respect", the initiative combines the contribution of media, technology, telecom and online companies. Their work could result in all phones, tablets, computers and game consoles being equipped with parental control tools and screens with simple tools for users to report harmful contact and content. The industry is working on how to ensure that parents are aware and use such tools. The
