3 UK apologises to customers for data breach

3 UK confirmed that criminals have obtained personal data of over 133,000 of its customer accounts as part of an organised ring to steal handsets from the mobile operator. 3 CEO David Dyson apologised to customers in a statement and said the company has taken steps to add additional layers of security to its system. As of 17 November, when arrests of the potential criminals first reached the period, 3 said eight customers had been victim to the fraud and unlawfully upgraded to a new device.
