40% of Germans support EU age restriction for Facebook

A proposal for a new EU directive suggests the minimum age for joining a social network should be raised from 13 to 16 years, unless the parents give consent. According to a recent survey by Mingle Trend, 41 percent of German respondents were in favour of free use of such online services for young people between 13 and 16 years, while 40 percent argued for legal use for those aged between 16 and 18.
