Austria's A1 will introduce the new hybrid-fibre technology G.fast in Vienna together with Alcatel Lucent, Der Standard reported on its website. Under laboratory conditions and distances of up to 100 metres, this technology can offer speeds of up to 1 Gbps. The technology will also enhance Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB) deployment architectures that will allow the combination of fibre and copper cables in order to simplify setting up in customer homes.
