A1 and Steiermark govt launch broadband campaign

A1 Telekom Austria said it and the Steiermark (Styria) government are launching a broadband campaign in the region. The regional government is providing more than EUR 11 million to promote the expansion of the fibre optic network in rural areas. This gives 10,108 businesses and 61,987 homes the opportunity to use broadband. The regional government's broadband initiative, 74 lots were put out to tender. Schladming was selected as a pilot region, because it was hosting the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship in February.
