A1 Bulgaria to support economically vulnerable families

Wednesday 16 September 2020 | 09:10 CET | News

A1 Bulgaria said it will invest nearly BGN 100,000 by the end of 2021 to support economically vulnerable families and help prevent separation between biological parents and their children. The funds were raised from BGN 1 donations provided to the National Association for Foster Care (NAPG) for each download of the A1 SmartAD application, which the company launched in 2019. It offers advertising content tailored to the interests and preferences of registered users. In the last nine years, A1 invested over BGN 0.5 million for the cause of foster care in the country under various forms of financing.

During an event for the start of the school year, A1 Bulgaria and NAPG handed out specially prepared backpacks with notebooks, educational aids and teaching aids to children and the teenagers from the region of Vidin and Belogradchik.

With part of the funds raised with SmartAD in 2020, NAPG implements the "Parents +" programme, in which foster parents trained as social workers provide emotional support and financial assistance to parents whose children are growing up in poverty. The initiative covers 14 regional cities and supported 78 parents raising 81 children by the middle of this year.
