AAPT emerges as potential buyer of NextGen

Telecom New Zealand subsidiary AAPT has emerged as the latest potential buyer of international contractor Leighton Holdings' national fibre-optic network operator, NextGen Networks, reports The Australian. NextGen's cable assets have attracted the interest of TPG Telecom, iiNet and M2 Telecommunications but now AAPT is also seriously considering making a tilt at the company. It is understood that iiNet would not pay anywhere near the AUD 1 billlion price tag touted for NextGen, with sources saying the company is no longer interested in the sales process, preferring to focus on growth
