ACM wants better information on handset warranty policies

Dutch regulator ACM wants better information about mobile phone guarantees, with an emphasis on 'consumer empowerment'. Although the regulator has not found evidence of any practices so severe they warrant immediate action, it did note a debate around damage due to normal use. The ACM advises consumers to not only consider price when buying a device, but also the guarantee and warranty policies, as well as the technical features of the handset, such as whether it resists abrasion, water, dust, dirt or shocks.
