Africa-1 submarine cable parties sign construction and maintenance contract

Wednesday 9 January 2019 | 10:49 CET | News
Plans to build a submarine broadband cable connecting South Africa and countries in the Middle East, South-Central Asia and Europe are forging ahead, according to TechCentral, citing CommsMEA. Operators and other parties met on 11 December 2018 in Dubai to sign a construction and maintenance agreement for the Africa-1 cable. CommsMEA did not say who has been contracted to do the work, but the system is expected to be operational by early 2021.
