African pay-TV subscriptions rise to 15.9 mln in Q2

The total number of pay-TV subscriptions in Africa amounted to 15.9 million in the second quarter, up 18 percent from 13.4 million in the same quarter of 2014, according to research from Dataxis. It said DTH is still the dominant platform in the region with 12.6 million subscribers at the end June, up 17 percent year on year from 10.8 million, 2014. However, DTH's market share fell slightly from 80 percent to 79 percent, and its share of actual growth was down to 74 percent.
