Airtel Africa revenue rises 14.2% in Q1, customers up 7%

Airtel Africa said its revenue grew by 14.2 percent to USD 3.91 billion in the first three months to 31 March. driven by 19.4 percent growth in underlying constant currency revenue, partially offset by currency devaluations, mainly of the Nigerian naira (10%), Zambian kwacha (34%) and Kenyan shilling (5.7%), in turn partially offset by appreciation of the Central African franc (7.1%). Reported revenue benefitted from a one-time exceptional revenue of USD 20 million relating to a settlement in Niger. Forex had an adverse impact of USD 171 million on revenue and USD 86 million on underlying
