Airtel Burkina Faso makes request for 4G licence

Airtel Burkina Faso has made an official request for a 4G licence from telecom regulator Arcep, Fasozine reports. The operator already introduced 3.75G service in May 2013. CEO Herve-Olivier Njapoum said the request is in line with Airtel's modernisation and innovation policy, but also the wish of the authorities to provide the most innovative services to the population. Arcep chairman Mathurin Bako welcomed Airtel's desire to invest in a 4G network that would provide an even faster internet connection to consumers as well as enabling many other applications. Airtel's 3.75 G service is slow and awful. They need to get this working well before they start new publicity gimmicks with 4G. Airtel Burkina is no match to Orange in Cote D' Ivoire whose mobile internet services are far superior .
