Airtel, Idea, Vodafone face fine over Jio interconnection

Indian telecom regulator TRAI has fined Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular for violating licence provisions by denying adequate interconnection points to Reliance Jio Infocomm. According to TRAI, the three operators' actions sought to hinder competition on the local market and were "anti-consumer". The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) urges DoT to take action against each of the three operators, adding that violation of licence norms warranted revocation of their permits.
