Airtel Kenya stops foreign scratch-card top-ups

Friday 7 April 2017 | 11:03 CET | News
Airtel Kenya has discontinued the service that allowed customers to top up airtime using local scratch-cards whenever they travelled in Africa, reports Business Daily. It was terminated in March and customers are advised to use their mobile money accounts to recharge when travelling to countries within the One Airtel footprint. This is in line with the recent trend for telephone firms to encourage customers to buy airtime through mobile money platforms, to cut down the distribution expenses associated with scratch-cards.
