Airtel Uganda implements 0.5% mobile money tax

Monday 19 November 2018 | 11:09 CET | News
Airtel Uganda has announced and implemented a reduction in the mobile money tax from 1 percent to 0.5 percent, only applicable to withdrawals.  This follows the President's assent to the Excise Duty (Amendment) (No.2) Bill 2018, which amends the rate of 1 percent on all transactions, to 0.5 percent on withdrawals alone. Airtel Uganda MD V.G. Somasekhar expressed gratitude to the government, parliament and other authorities for being responsive to feedback from mobile money users and agents.
