Akamai traffic peaks at 4.2Tbps for Germany-Portugal game

Akamai has reported a spike in internet video traffic during the first matches of the World Cup in Brazil. The Germany-Portugal match set a net traffic record on its network of 4.3 Tbps, following by the Netherlands' win against Spain at 3.4 Tbps. Akamai provides content delivery services for many of the global media companies that are covering the World Cup online.
