Al Jazeera buys TV rights to French football championship

France's football association, the "Ligue de Football Professionel", has announced the sale of international TV rights for the French Championship to Qatari satellite broadcaster Al Jazeera for six seasons starting in 2012-2013, AFP reports. Although he did not disclose the contract's financial terms, LFP president Frederic Thiriez said Al-Jazeera's bid was by far the highest of three the association received. The decision was unanimous.
