Al-Jazeera picks Eutelsat for sport channels in France

Friday 25 May 2012 | 10:50 CET | News
Eutelsat has won contracts from Al-Jazeera Networks to broadcast its new sports channels in France, beIN Sport 1 and 2. They are due to go live, respectively, on 1 June and later this summer. BeIN Sport 1 will show premium coverage of the UEFA Euro 2012 championship in Poland and Ukraine from 8 June. Al-Jazeera will compete with Vivendi pay TV operator Canal Plus in the lucrative pay TV sports market. Its channels will also be carried by IPTV operators.
