Alcatel-Lucent has unveiled a new portfolio of LTE radio access network technologies which it says will enable operators to better adapt to the future demands of the market and facilitate the evolution to NFV (Network Function Virtualisation) and 5G. The new RAN LTE portfolio includes the new 9926 eNodeB 99 module, a digital unit and radio frequency (RF) platform which uses existing radio spectrum and delivers LTE services. The new digital baseband unit (BBU) will help operators balance operational costs while consuming 50 percent less energy and almost tripling existing capacity. Each unit
