Algar may launch MVNO to extend 4G coverage

Wednesday 1 May 2013 | 12:38 CET | News
Brazilian regional operator Algar Telecom is studying the possibility of launching a MVNO on a 4G network to serve the corporate market outside its network footprint, Teletime reports. In exchange, Algar could offer to share its network in cities where it operates, CTO Luis Antonio Lima said at the seminar LTE Latin America 2013 in Rio de Janeiro. Algar did not participate in the auction of 2.5 GHz frequencies, and it will be difficult to participate in the 700 MHz auction, he said. In its coverage area, Algar intends to reuse 2G spectrum to launch 4G.
