Algar Telecom sees 3.6% growth in Q4 net revenue

Brazilian regional operator Algar Telecom reported net revenue of BRL 731.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2018, representing an annual growth of 3.6 percent. For the whole of 2018, growth was 5.6 percent to BRL 2.87 billion. The telecom area accounted for BRL 517.6 million in the quarter (+5%) and BRL 2.01 billion in the year (+6.8%).

Gross revenue in the B2B segment increased 6.9 percent in the quarter to BRL 400.5 million and 8.4 percent for the full year to BRL 1.55 billion. In the B2C division, on the other hand, fell gross revenue dropped by 7.4 percent to BRL 290.7 million in the quarter and 3.6 percent in the year to BRL 1.17 billion.

EBITDA grew 17.1 percent to BRL 254.9 million in Q4 and by 24 percent to BRL 967.5 million in 2018. The fourth quarter EBITDA margin was 34.8 percent and in 2018, it was 33.7 percent. Net profit in the quarter was BRL 88.9 million (+11.1%) and for the full-year it reached BRL 316.1 million (+37.7%). Capex was BRL 304.8 million (+35.3%) and BRL 733.2 million (+33.7%), respectively.

Net debt was BRL 1.55 billion, compared with BRL 1.40 billion in the previous year. The operator ended 2018 with 543,000 broadband connections (+5.6%), 736,000 fixed telephony connections (-2.6%), 1.29 million mobile telephony connections (-1.8%), and 83,000 pay-TV connections (-15.1%).
