Algeria adopts new telecom law opening up incumbent's fixed network

A new telecom law has come into force in Algeria bringing a number of major changes to the sector, including LLU regulation championed by ICT minister Imane Houda Feraoun. The new LLU rules, as defined by articles 101 and 102, will see incumbent Algerie Telecom open up its fixed network to competitors, providing unbundled access to the local loop under transparent and non-discriminatory conditions. The measures aiming to create a more level playing field also cover interconnection between operators.
