Algerian regulator publishes call for tender for 3G licences
Algerian telecom regulator ARPT has announced a call for tender for three 3G licences. The auction is aimed at the country's existing mobile operators, who are invited to obtain the necessary documents between 11 and 15 August at the authority's headquarters in Algiers at a cost of DZD 1 million (approximately EUR 9,400). Algeria's mobile operators are Mobilis, Nedjma and Djezzy.

ARPT to announce 3G licence winners on 15 October

Algeria's three telecom operators, Djezzy, Mobilis and Nedjma have respected the 15 September deadline to submit their technical and financial bids for 3G licences, reports Algerie Focus. Algeria's three mobile operators will pay DZD 3 billion (EUR 27 million) for their 3G licences, according to local press reports citing licensing documents purchased by Mobilis, Nedjma and Djezzy. Djezzy revenues, EBITDA higher in Q2, maintains market lead

Algeria mobile operator Djezzy reported second-quarter revenues up 3 percent and EBITDA 2 percent higher year-on-year, helped by a 57 percent rise in data revenues and new marketing of its voice plans. In USD, parent company Vimpelcom reported revenues of USD 464 million and EBITDA of USD 279 million for the Algerian company. Mobilis increases Q2 revenue by over 25% to DZD 14.2 billion

Algerie Telecom subsidiary Mobilis increased its turnover by more than 25 percent to over DZD 14.2 billion in the second quarter, compared to the second quarter of 2012, CEO Saad Damma announced at a press conference, La Tribune reports. Algerian govt expects 3G services to start by 1 December

Algerian ICT minister Moussa Benhamadi announced that he has signed a decree for the launch of 3G and 3G+ licensing and service provision which is set to be published in the official gazette, APS reports. The Algerian government wants to complete its acquisition of Djezzy before launching 3G and 3G+ services, said ICT minister Moussa Benhamadi. Despite recent delays, Algeria will licence 3G operators before the end of the year, Algerian ICT minister Moussa Benhamadi told La Tribune newspaper. Wataniya to bid for 3G licence in Algeria

Mobile operator Wataniya Telecom Algerie (Nedjma) will bid for the North African country's 3G licence at a tender planned for early 2012, reports Bloomberg citing CEO Joseph Ged.
