Alibaba picks ZTE to build 100G optical network
Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba has selected ZTE to construct an optical transport network to support the continued growth of Alibaba's e-commerce platforms. ZTE will deploy its ZXONE 8700 100G OTN series to build a 100G transmission network. The first phase of the project will cover four MANs in Hangzhou, Tianjin, and Beijing. When the broadband network is completed, it will carry most of Alibaba's data traffic.

Alibaba to enter smart TV business

Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba plans to develop a smart TV OS and STB to extend its footprint to new products. The OS was developed by Alibaba subsidiary AliCloud. Alibaba will work with Wasu Media on making internet-connected STBs, announced Alibaba vice president Yu Ce. China-based international e-commerce portal Alibaba increased revenues 71 percent to USD 1.38 billion in the first quarter from USD 806 million in the year-earlier period, according to a results presentation by its 24 percent owner, Yahoo. D.Phone, ZTE sign 1 million handset deal

Chinese handset retailer D.Phone and equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE have signed an agreement to sell 1 million ZTE handsets through D.Phone retail outlets this year.
