Alibaba's Youku secures 2018 World Cup streaming rights in China

Chinese online video hub Youku, owned by Alibaba Group, has acquired the exclusive online streaming rights in China to the 2018 World Cup. The contract is a partnership with state broadcaster CCTV, the terrestrial television home of World Cup football in China, writes The Hollywood Reporter. Under the terms of the deal, Youku will live stream 64 World Cup matches, as well as off-game highlights and coverage.
