Almost 75% of German internet users bank online

Almost three-quarters (73%) of internet users in Germany conduct their banking transactions online, according to a recent survey carried out on behalf of IT association Bitkom. This is a 5-percent increase within one year; now approximately 40 million Germans use online banking. The most active group is 50 to 64 year-olds at 83 percent, followed by those aged between 30 and 49 at 76 percent, and 67 percent among those aged between 14 and 29. Even in the group of internet users aged 65 or older, more than half (54%) conduct their transactions online. According to Bitkom's general manager,
