Almost every Swiss resident uses a mobile phone

Some 97 percent of Swiss residents used a mobile phone or a smartphone in 2014. According to a survey by gfs.bern on behalf of Forum Mobil, people use their phone less for voice calls but more to go online. The respondents stated that they speak on the phone for 17 minutes per day on average; this is 12 minutes less than in August 2010. The average use of mobile internet applications has increased from 7 minutes in 2010 to almost 50 minutes per day.
