Almost half Germans do Christmas shopping online

The trend of purchasing presents online has accelerated; 48 percent of participants of a recent Bitkom study state that they order Christmas presents from the internet. This is equivalent to about 33 million online buyers, compared to 26 million in the previous year. Every fifth German (20%) buys exclusively online, up from 15 percent in 2013. Sales of tablets and smartphones are as popular as Ultra HD TV sets and games consoles, fitness trackers have sold very well too.
