Almost half of UK firms reported security breach in 2016

Virtually all UK businesses are exposed to cyber security risks, the UK government's Cyber Security Breaches Survey for 2017 revealed, noting almost half (46%) reported at least one breach or attack in the past 12 months. Of these, 41 percent said the incident resulted in a temporary loss of files or network access (23%) or systems becoming corrupted (20%), with 57 percent saying the breach adversely impacted their organisation, for example through being forced to implement new protective measures (38%) or having staff time taken up dealing with the breach (34%).
