Altice Labs unveils dual SFP/SFP+ transceiver prototypes for increased performance over GPON, XGS-PON

Altice Labs has presented what it described as the world´s first SFP Dual GPON and SFP+ Dual XGS-PON transceivers at this year's Broadband World Forum, currently taking place in Amsterdam. The prototypes have been developed to transmit/receive two PON channels and double the number of users connected per physical port, resulting in an increased density of ports per line card. The company said that their deployment will enable a smooth transition from a single physical port at 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps to twice these transmission rates (2.5+2.5 Gbps and 10+10 Gbps), without needing to change the
