French operator Altitude Infrastructure has been selected to deploy and operate an FTTH network connecting 280,000 rural premises in the Haute-Garonne department. The public-initiative network (known as RIP, 'Reseaux d'Initiative Publique') is scheduled for completion in 2022 and its estimated cost will amount to EUR 515 million, of which EUR 31 million will be covered by public funds. Altitude will build and manage the open-access infrastructure under a 25-year concession.
