ALTON holds talks with national agency over mandatory Nigerian identification number introduction

Nigeria's telecom operators and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) are in talks about how to ensure a smooth transition towards the 01 January 2019 deadline for the mandatory use of the National Identification Number (NIN), reports the Guardian. NIMC director-general Aliyu Aziz has held talks with leaders of mobile network operators under the aegis of Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), led by chairman Gbenga Adebayo.
