Amazon takes nearly half of new UK SVoD sign-ups in Q4

Amazon Prime outpaced Netflix in the final quarter of 2020, attracting nearly half of new SVoD sign-ups in the UK thanks to live Premier League matches and the rugby Autumn Nations Cup. The latest quarterly figures from Kantar revealed that Amazon Prime secured 49.1 percent of new SVoD takeups from October to December (equivalent to 635,000 new subscribers), followed by Netflix with 16.8 percent and Disney+ with 15.0 percent, the latter down from over 50 percent in Q1 2020.
