America Movil service revenues fall 5.7% in Mexico

America Movil reported third-quarter revenues up 0.7 percent year-on-year to MXN 68.1 billion, as demand for smartphones offset a 5.7 percent drop in service revenue. The operator noted that the rate of decline in service revenue slowed, but it was still facing intensified competition following the entry of AT&T on the mobile market. The incumbent said it should not have to subsidise new entrants with asymmetric interconnection rates and should be allowed a pay-TV licence in order to compete on equal terms.
