AMS-IX denies role in international wiretapping

The Amsterdam Internet Exchange is not involved in tapping of personal data by intelligence services, the operator said at a Dutch parliamentary committee hearing. The committee is looking into the allegations surrounding the US and UK intelligence services collecting personal communications data, possibly through tapping international cable connections. AMS-IX claims to be the world's largest internet exchange, connecting around 600 IP networks, of which only a quarter are Dutch. The operator noted that it does not connect end-users, only the operators, hence the collection of personal data
