Anatel investigates spying violations

Wednesday 21 August 2013 | 13:49 CET | News
Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) said it is investigating whether local operators' systems were violated by foreign intelligence agencies. This follows allegations of spying by the former employee of the US National Security Agency, Edward Snowden. According to the vice president of Anatel, Jarbas Valente, the agency is required to verify whether there was breach of personal or commercial information. He added that most of the companies questioned have delivered the information, and from that it will decide whether there is a need to establish an administrative procedure.
