Anatel proposes remedies for Time Warner-AT&T deal

Tuesday 6 June 2017 | 17:31 CET | News
Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has expressed concern about potential competitive risks in Brazil as a result of the acquisition of Time Warner by AT&T, the indirect controlling owner of Sky Brasil, reports Reuters. The regulator told the Administrative Council of Economic Defense (Cade) that the risks can be mitigated through "medicines". This may include the imposition of transparency measures in the licensing of Time Warner channels in Brazil that ensure the sale on a non-discriminatory basis and price restrictions in the pay-TV market.
