Anatel says fibre has become main fixed broadband access medium in Brazil

Fibre optics have become the main form of access for fixed broadband in Brazil, according to the report for January by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). A total of 10.34 million contracts for fibre technology were active, up by 1.2 percent on the previous month and by 71.1 percent year-on-year. As a result, xDSL dropped to second place with 9.95 million lines (-3.7% month-on-month and 22.9 percent year-on-year).
