Anatel to organise public hearing on femtocells

Friday 4 January 2013 | 21:47 CET | News
A public hearing on the proposed standard for using femtocells in mobile telephony networks in Brazil will be held on 16 January in Brasilia. Notice of the hearing was published on 04 December in the Official Gazette and contributions and suggestions should be sent in by 24 January. Under the proposals, the regulating agency (Anatel) determined that there will be reasonable freedom to use these small cells and has met the companies' requests that they are not considered as base stations, so that their use does not require the payment of Fistel taxes.
