Android leads smartphone sales with 51.5% share in Q2

Android has retained its lead in smartphone sales for the three month period ending June 2013, with a 51.5 percent sales share of the smartphone market, while iOS follows with 42.5 percent, growing 3.3 percent compared to 2012, according to new data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. Other OS brands to see movement include Windows with 4 percent smartphone sales share, up 1.1 percent. Among carriers, Verizon remained not only the top carrier but also the only carrier to increase its share over this time (36.9% share, up 1.9%).
