Angola-Brazil fibre optic cable starts operations

The submarine cable between Angola and Brazil was launched on 14 December in Luanda, by the Angolan fibre optic operator Angola Cables, according to a report by local daily Jornal de Angola. The African Telecommunications Cable runs for 6,000 kilometers and links Luanda to Fortaleza, in the Brazilian state of Ceara. The cable will be used for the transmission of voice and data (internet), from Latin America, Africa and Asia. The project had a cost of USD 278 million and should be completed by the end of 2014.
