Angola to invest in satellite, submarine cable

Angola is investing AOA 29.2 billion (USD 300 million) to launch a Russian-made satellite in 2017 and AOA 19.4 billion (USD 200 million) to construct a submarine cable across the Atlantic Ocean to Brazil next year, National Director of Telecommunications Eduardo Sebastiao told Bloomberg. Sebastiao said that Angola also wants to add fibre cables to increase mobile coverage to 85 percent of the population within two years, from the current 60 percent.
