Apple buys Israeli camera tech startup LinX - report

Wednesday 15 April 2015 | 11:31 CET | News
Apple has acquired Israeli camera technology company LinX for around USD 20 million, reports the Wall Street Journal. The startup develops miniature cameras for tablets and smartphones that it says offer single-lens-reflex (SLR) camera image quality without the need for a bulky device. Its products use a variety of sensors and proprietary algorithms to enable 3D image capture, better low-light performance and enhanced background focus blur. LinX claims that its technology can open the way to features such as 3-D object modelling, face recognition and automatic background removal.
