Apple joins rivals in attacking Investigatory Powers Bill

Apple has joined Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Twitter and Yahoo in criticising the UK's Investigatory Powers Bill, commonly called the 'snooper's charter' in evidence submitted to the public bill committee. The Guardian reports that the six internet companies criticise the bill for its attempts to set extraterritorial jurisdiction, allowing the UK to force companies that are not based in the UK to comply. They also also giving the government the power to compel a company to remove encryption from its users' communications.
