Apple retains right to use iPhone brand in Brazil

The Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro has issued a decision in favor of Apple in the appeal of the US company against Brazilian manufacturer Gradiente and the Brazilian National Institute of Intellectual Protection (INPI), reports Valor Economico. The judges decided that Apple has the right to use the iPhone brand on its devices sold in Brazil without paying anything to Gradiente. The Brazilian company said it would appeal the decision. In February last year the INPI decided that the Iphone brand belonged to Gradiente. The company made its request in 2000, but the registration was only approved
