Apple tells app developers to better inform users about activity tracking

Friday 8 February 2019 | 10:46 CET | News
Apple is tightening up developer rules for apps on its App Store, following an investigation by TechCrunch that some companies are using third-party analytics tools to record user movements inside the app. Under some of the programmes, swipes, taps or button pushes get screenschotted and then sent back to the developer. The system has also let some sensitive data leak, even though such information is meant to be masked. Apps involved are from companies such as Air Canada, Hollister and Expedia, as well as Abercrombie & Fitch, Hotels.com and Singapore Airlines.
