Apple to pay Chilean users USD 3.4 mln after 'batterygate' class action

Apple has reached an agreement to pay Chilean consumers USD 3.4 million in compensation following a class action lawsuit brought by the Organisation of Consumers and Users (Odecu) for what it termed the "planned obsolescence" of older iPhones. The lawsuit was brought against Apple Chile, MacOnline and local representative Reifschneider at the end of 2018 after the company admitted that it slowed the performance of some older iPhone models due to ageing batteries.
