Arcep announces 4G licensing timeframe

French telecommunications regulator Arcep will release its 4G licensing procedures in December to attribute spectrum by the end of March 2011, the authority told journalists at a press conference. French press reports repeat that the licences themselves are due to be delivered before the month of August next year. Arcep aims to award four licences and for 90 percent of each 'departement' or county to be covered, in an effort to prevent rural ones from being underserved. On a different subject, 2G and 3G network roaming deals for new MNO Free Mobile, Arcep said it was reasonably optimistic
