Arcep launches 3G, 4G tender for French overseas markets

French telecom regulator Arcep has invited applications for 3G and 4G spectrum in France's overseas markets, where digital communications are more expensive than in mainland France. The government issued a call for applications in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Reunion, Martinique, Mayotte, Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy on 29 January. Arcep will allocate frequencies in the 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands that were never assigned in these departments and territories. Arcep will also release additional 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 2.1 GHz spectrum to enable operators to deploy 4G equipment and continue 3G
